El Open House: The Soundtrack of Our Lives

El Open House: The Soundtrack of Our Lives is an original documentary directed by award-winning filmmaker Joe Cardona. It brings to life the Miami of the 70s and 80s with its vibrant nightlife, glamorous style and irresistible rhythms.

We could not be more proud of being part of this documentary (represented by Alex Cobos pictured below) that captures the historical and vibrant period in Miami’s music scene, along with groups like The Antiques, Clouds, Coke, Conjunto Impacto, Heaven, Majesty, Mantrap, Miami Sound Machine, Opus, Pearly Queen, The Judges Nephews, Trap, Unit 3, Warlocks, just to name a few, all of which we spent our childhood with.

You can buy the El Open House: The Soundtrack of Our Lives on DVD for $60.

Additionally, you can hear the interview with Joe Cardona, Alex Cobos, Nelson Correa of Mantrap, Carlos Oliva and others via Cubanarama.

The program is named after a unique, cultural phenomenon: the “Open House” parties of the seventies.  Those who experienced those exhilarating days associate the term with friends, family and plenty of good music. Rare footage, photo albums and the fabulous sounds of the era allow us to remember who we were then.  El Open House is a nostalgic journey to a youthful past; a time that added magic to the city we now call home.
